Make Cursive Writing Great Again
Former CIA analysist Larry Johnson recently visited Moscow to meet Sergey Lavrov. He mentioned a Russian oligarch investing in a school teaching classical education including cursive writing.
Being a Gooner, I was gifted and started a tiny ‘Arsenal’ diary in 1972. It features information about Arsenal football club with each open double page entry providing a few lines for each week’s 7 days. It opens…
Saturday 01 January 1972
‘I went to Norwich
We went to a bus station.’
That’s it. However, I notice a few days later:
Thursday 06 January 1972
‘We played Horny all over my new school’
Horney was a catch game and nothing to do with sexual arousal; indeed, I don’t think I was aware of ‘arousal’ at that age. I do remember this being a popular tune in Istanbul: Mousse T. feat. Hot 'n' Juicy - Horny '98

For some decades now I’ve been hand writing A4 page a day diaries. I clearly remember at primary school being introduced to ‘joined-up writing’. I remember it felt like a rite of passage to something grown-ups do. Today, as Larry Johnson points out, it may be a dying art. 1st Class post today is £1.70. It’s mind boggling. I remember 12p. Imagine a campaign in English schools to encourage children to hand write and send letters across the country; perhaps enable a very subsidised or free postage scheme for the benefit of children’s education.

It’s not really MAGA. It doesn’t really roll off the tongue, does it? I wonder if I’m being naïve.
What Russia Wants: My Meeting With Sergey Lavrov | Former CIA Analyst Larry Johnson
9 mins in… Larry talks about
‘.... one of the things that has disappeared in the modern age is the ability to write in cursive in the West and that that process that you have to go through learning how to write, how to construct letters and to and be able to write and connect them, that physical motion ends up wiring the neural pathways in the brain; it's actually a way to help build intelligence and capability for critical thinking and it's one of the reasons that we're seeing the West in trouble now; that people are moving away from learning how to write in cursive. In fact many kids look at a page of cursive writing and think they're reading Arabic or Hebrew or some you know some ancient script they can't even read basic English written in cursive so that's one of the things Constantine's school addresses.’

Words
‘Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.’
I grew up with this, but today human beings are apprehended by our wooden-top Zionist WEF PM Sir Kueer Stalin’s regime, for words and thoughts. As I often repeat, I read Orwell’s 1984 in 1984 and it’s sadly evolved from fiction to real life. Thought crime, hate crime and wrong think are a reality in England 2025.

The Rude Word Painting
Istanbul 13.04.2008, 174cm x 99cm acrylic on canvas
I painted it for fun; I don’t think this qualifies as cursive writing, but never mind. I had a studio apartment just off Taksim Square, Istanbul. My Turkish apartment cleaner and apartment block doorman both stood in front of the canvas, smiled and exclaimed, ‘Çok güzel’; very good, beautiful. Neither could speak nor read English, so the rude words were merely colourful symbols.
Today younger generations speed-tap their ‘smart’ phones with their thumbs typing out whatever is required. My ‘dumb’ phone messages still consist of full-stops, capital letters and I have never and am determined never to use an emoji nor emicon.

My cynical view of modern day education
I heard a story about the Zelenskyy regime changing history to meet current day Ukrainian ideological alignment.
Yesterday, I briefly met and exchanged a few words with a student from an English university. I asked him his view on Ukraine. He described Putin as a dictator disrupting the world order and being a threat. This young man intends to be a history teacher. Oh God, we’re so screwed. I wondered if he was aware that Trump has just proudly announced the killing of a Yemeni tribal gathering. I let it be, bid him good evening and went on my way. I did later think I could have recommended him…

Cursive writing is at risk of being made redundant. We’re being nudged toward a digital data, cashless, centralised system. In our country there is the

Edward Mandell House, birth certificate
https://captainsweep.wordpress.com/2013/06/03/important-quote-by-colonel-edward-mandell-house/
“Very soon, every American will be required to register their biological property (that’s you and your children) in a national system designed to keep track of the people and that will operate under the ancient system of pledging. By such methodology, we can compel people to submit to our agenda, which will affect our security as a charge back for our fiat paper currency. Every American will be forced to register or suffer being able to work and earn a living. They will be our chattels (property) and we will hold the security interest over them forever, by operation of the law-merchant under the scheme of secured transactions. Americans, by unknowingly or unwittingly delivering the bills of lading (Birth Certificate) to us will be rendered bankrupt and insolvent, secured by their pledges. They will be stripped of their rights and given a commercial value designed to make us a profit and they will be none the wiser, for not one man in a million could ever figure our plans and, if by accident one or two should figure it out, we have in our arsenal plausible deniability. After all, this is the only logical way to fund government, by floating liens and debts to the registrants in the form of benefits and privileges. This will inevitably reap us huge profits beyond our wildest expectations and leave every American a contributor to this fraud, which we will call “Social Insurance.” Without realizing it, every American will unknowingly be our servant, however begrudgingly. The people will become helpless and without any hope for their redemption and we will employ the high office (presidency) of our dummy corporation (USA) to foment this plot against America.”

I think I replied to your post but AI may have decided otherwise because what I wrote somewhat wittily suddenly disappeared
Hi Ned, your cartoons had me laughing again. And so weird that you posted this the day after we had an amusing experience with handwriting: a young man who came to do an insurance assessment for a roof-leak-ruined carpet needed my husband's signature on his phone. It took about 6 failed efforts for a left hander to sign without triggering the erase button on the left side of the phone. LOL. I don't know what significance such a "signature" has, since anyone could feign a scrawl, which looks nothing like a penned-on-paper signature.
In the bigger scheme, I think we are being "de-bodied" one step at a time, and the skill of hand writing is just one of many procedural memories being erased, or not even encoded, in the human species. All the better for the planned "transitioning" to "post-humans", eh!
Thank goodness for the artists who still use traditional media and get their hands dirty!
